Holiday Open House
11/19 - 11/22/2009
Holiday Open House, a Jenks tradition, will take place on November 19th – 22nd. The Christmas cheer comes alive in the Downtown Antique District and throughout community during the Light’s On Ceremonies at both locations. Carriage rides, Santa pictures and a holiday hometown parade create the holiday spirit as shoppers purchase Christmas gifts during this “Sales Tax Holiday” weekend, which is a discount equal to your state and local taxes being offered at participating merchants. During this event, Jenks merchants will have extended holiday shopping hours and pictures with Santa, provided by Jill Solomon Photography at U Dirty Dawg located at 205 E. Main St.
Festivities begin on Main Street in the Downtown Antique District on Thursday, November 19th at 6 PM. Shopkeepers have decorated their windows with the theme of “A Christmas Night of Lights.” Join your friends, family, and neighbors as Travis Meyer, Chief Meteorologist with KOTV Channel 6, will lead the countdown to the lighting of Main Street live at 6 PM. Other activities for the night will include carriage ride and special entertainment provided by Jenks High School’s vocal performance group, The Trojanaires.
On Friday, November 20th, Holiday Lights On continues to RiverWalk Crossing with performances by the Jenks Dance Academy and the Jenks High School Choir. The program will be emcee by meteorologist Frank Mitchell live on KTUL at 6:00 pm. Festivities will continue with the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, carriage rides and strolling carolers.
On Saturday, November 21st, the morning starts with the Jenks Lion’s Club Pancake Breakfast from 7 – 10 AM at the Jenks City Hall-Community Room, 211 N. Elm. Tickets are available from the Jenks Lion’s Club, (918) 299-6451, or at the door for $4. Beginning at 10 AM, the Kiwanis Holiday Parade will travel down Main Street featuring saddle clubs, bands, car clubs, floats and Santa Claus.
Mark your calendars for holiday fun for the entire family and experience the hometown holiday charm of Jenks.
