The Oklahoma Aquarium, www.okaquarium.org, recently received two top Redbud Awards for excellence in state tourism. The awards, Outstanding Attraction and Best Website, were given from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department and the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association. This highest honor is given to tourist attractions, and events and promotional efforts across the state. The Redbud Awards recognizes the outstanding achievements of organizations, individuals and businesses that help promote and develop tourism in Oklahoma.
Since its opening in 2003, the Oklahoma Aquarium consistently draws over a half a million visitors each year. The aquarium offers over 200 exhibits including eight major galleries with more than 4,000 creatures from our world's waters. The Oceans Room offers excellent photo opportunities for children enjoying the touch tanks.

The most talked-about gallery leaves visitors breathless as they walk through an underwater viewing tunnel into a domed room while the largest bull and lemon sharks in captivity swim beside and overhead. Discovery Channel’s famed naturalist and noteworthy filmmaker Nigel Marven documented four bull sharks at home in this architecturally innovative half-million gallon shark tank. The resulting shots and commentary were featured in the 2003 edition of Discovery Channel's Shark Week series. The aquarium strives to fulfill their mission of conservation through education.

Jenks has been featured multiple times in Southern Living Magazine, Oklahoma Living, Discover Oklahoma, various travel and tourism publications, just to name a few. Known for many years as the “Antique Capital of Oklahoma,” Jenks offers visitors a getaway from the norm. Main Street is a unique strolling district that has Victorian charm with a turn of the century feel, sidewalk benches, and outdoor music system playing smooth sounds. Antique, specialty, and home décor shops, showcasing over 600 dealers, can be found on Main Street and also in a unique country-style setting which is located just minutes away from downtown.

Jenks is home to northeastern Oklahoma’s only riverfront shopping and entertainment district, RiverWalk Crossing, www.riverwalkcrossingjenks.com. This contemporary lifestyle center, which overlooks the Arkansas River, comes alive with an outdoor amphitheater playing live music. Shoppers and visitors will find unique shops, various dining choices, a first-run movie theater, and outdoor cabana bars.
